Next Workshop: Engineering with Intelligence
Mine Planning, FMIPCC and Sandwich Conveyors, with AI Applied. A two-day master class, Monday 21 and Tuesday 22 December 2026, Kolkata. Organised by IKC (Empowering Knowledge) and led by Shyamal Kumar Bag.
The workshop takes you from the mine plan to FMIPCC and sandwich conveyor transport, then to cost calculations, working HTML tools, case studies and videos. At each step you see how Artificial Intelligence can speed up the work while the engineer stays in control.
What you will learn
- Plan seams, benches, fleet and calendar with a clear method.
- Compare dumpers, semi-mobile and fully mobile IPCC, and sandwich conveyors, with cost and CO₂ numbers.
- Calculate operating cost per tonne, NPV and payback, and present them to management.
- Use ready HTML tools and AI prompts you can take back to your own site.
Who should attend
Senior executives, project and planning heads, and mining and mechanical engineers from coal, iron ore, metal and mineral mining, plus consultants. Cement, power, steel and port professionals and EPC and OEM managers are also welcome. No programming skill is needed.

Preview: 3D Mine Plan Tool
Mine Plan 3-D is a parametric mine planning and economics tool built from the project report of the Sonepur Bazari opencast mine, a World Bank aided project in which I was part of the team that designed the coal handling plant. The 29-year calendar plan was rebuilt and an alternative of in-pit crushing, bench conveyor and sandwich conveyor was evaluated. In the base case, NPV at 12% is Rs 723 Cr and IRR is 19.1% (figures from the project report). The full presentation with the HTML tools will be given at the December workshop.
